2 IDEAS FROM THE PODCAST
Idea #1: Outsourcing operations is more important than outsourcing content.
It’s common to see a business owner or content creator outsource part of the creative before outsourcing operations, when instead it should be in reverse.
Sara explains that after years of not having anyone on her team, she’s finally decided to hire a strategist, instead of an editor (unlike everyone else on the internet, apparently).
Because, “I know how to run the SEO, but it’s not where I want to spend my time, and I understand there’s people that do it better than me.”
And roles you would previously hire out for, like repurposing content, can now be done by something like Castmagic. That way, you save time, money, and you’re doing things more efficiently.
The impact of a strategist is underrated most of the time.
Someone that’s taken the time to analyze the different aspects of your business and content, and find insights faster will outperform the return you can get from someone that just edits your videos into shorts or repurposes content.
Idea #2: Evaluate yourself and your client base.
If you find yourself unhappy with the work you’re doing, it might be worthwhile to do a client review after each project and figure out what’s going on. Ask yourself things like:
What skills did I learn?
What red flags did I ignore from the client?
Did I charge what I said I was going to?
What do I want to keep exploring?
Sara spent some time working with a client who had their business on ClickUp, and she spent six months trying to figure out another tool that they could use, it just didn’t work out.
The kinds of clients she was working with weren’t fulfilling her and reached a point where she was considering shutting down the business.
She discovered her preference for clients who are independent and not deeply emotionally invested in their businesses.
This realization is guiding her current efforts to shift her client base.

1 KEY LEARNING
Key Learning: Auditing your team will lead to a happier work life.
A great place to start if you do have a team is by auditing them and analyzing if reworking the roles might lead to more effective, happier work.
An example set by Sara was her friend, who’s expanding her team, but there were small things that just weren’t fitting in.
She had them all take some personality tests. When she looked at the data, she was able to make minor tweaks to the roles each person was doing regarding their personalities.
Now, it’s the smoothest-sailing, most productive team she’s ever curated.
